Hi buybuyblog,

If you’re anything like me, you know life can get VERY busy…

Sometimes SO busy, we let important health habits get away from us…

Especially exercising.

Let’s face it… After a long, tiring week, sometimes the only place you really want to be… is on the couch!

But even on a lazy, relaxing Saturday, one thing I try to NEVER let myself do… is skip my exercise routine.

It’s so important to me to fit in my 30 minutes of cardio, plus weight lifting, circuit training, stretching, and sit-ups at least 3-4 times a week… No matter what!

You see, exercise is perhaps the #1 most important thing you can do for your health… For a healthy heart, weight control, a longer life…

AND your skin…

Especially if the problem you’re targeting is sagging or loose skin.

Now, to be clear, I’m not talking about “facial yoga” or other facial exercises that supposedly lift skin by building muscles underneath the skin…

Something that doesn’t actually work very well…

I’m talking about good old-fashioned hiking, swimming, power-walking, yoga…

ANYTHING you enjoy that gets your blood pumping.

So how does exercise help prevent and reverse sagging, drooping, loose skin?

Here are 6 ways exercising at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes at a time can help keep your skin looking firmer and younger.

1) Increased collagen production

When you get moving, tiny capillaries in your skin dilate… meaning more nutrient-rich blood flow to the skin.

These nutrients help collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts work more efficiently. And more collagen means plumper skin that resists sagging.

(And as a bonus: This increased blood flow gives you a rosy glow that lasts all day!)

2) Deep cleaning pores

You may already associate clogged pores with acne and blackheads…

But did you know clogged pores can actually lead to an aged, “droopy” look?

It’s true… Impurities like dirt and oil literally stretch out your pores over time and “drag” skin downward…

Giving skin a less youthful texture, and ultimately creating the optical illusion of sagging.

But sweat washes out pores by bringing oil, bacteria, and dirt out onto skin’s surface, where they can be washed away…

Keeping your skin firm and uplifted for the long haul!

3) Stress Reduction

Stress doesn’t just feel terrible… It’s actually physically destructive to your skin.

Stress leads to the production of cortisol, a hormone that blocks collagen production… So over time, excessive stress could cause your skin to actually lose its internal structure, and quite literally “fall apart.”

However, in people who exercise regularly, measured stress is much lower, and cortisol levels are lower overall…

In fact, a study published in 2008 by scientists from Michigan State University found that cortisol levels drop by as much as 18.5% after an intense workout.

That means exercising regularly will not only make you feel more relaxed day-to-day… it can also protect your skin from premature sagging, thinning, and slacking.

4) Increased skin cell regeneration

You might already know that people who exercise more, sleep better. That’s an amazing benefit on its own… but it also translates to younger-looking skin.

At night, while your body rests, natural healing processes are activated – including regenerating your skin’s natural collagen and elastin… Two molecules that are ESSENTIAL in the fight against gravity.

Not to mention, better sleep means a smoother, brighter under-eye area that can take years off your appearance!

5) Detoxification

That increased circulation we talked about does more than just carry nutrients TO the skin – it also carries toxins out of skin, where the body can eliminate them.

How does this happen? Increased blood flow to the liver means your blood will be “cleaned out” faster…

And cleaner blood means fewer environmental toxins getting to your skin.

The result? Skin that stays firmer and tighter over time…

Not to mention, more energy and a healthier body overall.

6) Posture improvement

If you tend to slouch or look downward a lot, it might be showing on your face… in the form of sagging skin.

You can help your skin fight gravity by improving your posture, and training yourself to keep your head held upright and strong, through exercise.

(Not to mention, this is great for your confidence… Something that’s absolutely essential to looking your best and brightest.)

The BEST kinds of exercise for improved posture are yoga, pilates, or dance…

But ANY exercise will help strengthen the core muscles that help you stand tall and upright… Which will absolutely help your skin stand the test of time.

So whether it’s a daily hike, a trip to the gym, or just a quick walk around the block… the BEST thing you can do for your skin (AND your overall health) is take a few minutes to get that blood pumping. I know you’ll notice a difference right away!
